About Parish & Pew
Parish & Pew is a third-party magazine on congregational life and witness in mainline Protestant churches in the US and Canada.
Parish & Pew is a third-party magazine on congregational life and witness in the mainline Protestant churches of the United States and Canada. It is edited by The Parish & Pew editorial team and hosted on Cloudflare.
The magazine is organised into three sections. Congregational Practice reports on discipleship, hospitality, invitation and the everyday work of small congregations. Resources and Reviews examines the evangelism resources, curricula and toolkits that denominations and publishers put out, and says what each one contains. Lectionary and Seasons follows the church year and the Revised Common Lectionary, with notes for preaching, teaching and invitation.
Every entry is written from public sources, and those sources are named at the end of the entry so a reader can check them. The team reads reports, curricula, publisher pages and public documents, then writes a summary and an assessment. The texts are in the third person about every organisation. They state limits: what a source says, what it does not say, and where a claim cannot be checked.
The audience is mainline Protestant pastors, Christian educators, evangelism and outreach committee members, and small congregations in the United States and Canada. Readers use the magazine to compare resources, to prepare for the lectionary, and to follow congregational practice across the wider church.
